a follower

Gee, I have a follower now. Hi! I guess that means I should write something more often than once every 4 years or so. My therapist says I should use pen and paper as my way to express myself, and I do, but there are thoughts that I would like to give to a wider audience sometimes.

I still love reading. Nothing else can really soothe my disordered mind like a book. It doesn’t even have to be a good book as long as I can find something in it to catch my imagination. That’s why my go to genres are fantasy and science fiction. When I need total escape, my fall back is a frilly Regency romance. But even there, I want the details to be accurate. No wrist watches or telephones, ┬áplease unless we’ve gotten into the late Victorian Era.

Mainly I love my fantasy though,were-beings, vampires (non-sparkly), witches, ghosts, alternate history, aliens from other worlds, space travel, etc. in any mixture you’d care to present them to me. But you have to have a good story.

The story is the key. If you tell a good story about real “people” and can bring the characters to life, the action can be as mundane as cooking supper on Tuesday and the reader will be hooked. Did astronaut JC remember to bring a can opener in the rescue vehicle? Or will JC be surrounded by rescue rations yet starve because they can’t be opened? dun dun dun cue creepy music.

I’m tired and a bit slap happy so I’ve quit making sense. Cat Joey is in my lap and says to say goodnight to the nice people.
